This week, the Colorado Children’s Caucus held a Legislative Reception focusing on Child Sex Trafficking. The weather was cold and stormy, which deterred some of our guests, yet we had an important presentation to all who were able to attend.
Our speakers included: Amanda Finger, Executive Director of the Laboratory to Combat Human Trafficking, Sergeant Dan Steele, Denver Police Department and FBI Rocky Mountain Innocence Lost Task Force, Lynn Johnson, Jefferson County Human Service Director, and Janet Drake, Assistant Attorney General at the Colorado Attorney General's Office. These presenters gave important information from many sides of this multifaceted issue.
Additionally, we heard voices from two other nonprofit organizations that work directly with victims of human trafficking: Kim Easton, CEO, and Jamie Trotman, Street Outreach Counselor, of Urban Peak as well as Emily Laffandere, Director of Education and Development at Prax(us).
Please find the presentation materials and information on the upcoming Trafficking Day at the Capitol attached at the bottom of this page.
If there are any additional handouts or event dates that your organization would like the Children's Caucus to promote, please feel free to email that information to [email protected] and we will be happy to add the information to the Colorado Children’s Caucus website and calendar.
